Join Master Weaver, Vicki Kinai as she shares her very own weaving technique that can be used to make decorative wall hangings, bags, or other pieces of art.
Vicki Kinai is a local Wyndham City Fibre artist, Melanesian Languages and Cultural Trainer, Exhibitor, Performer and Teacher. She hails from Mt. Hagen in Papua New Guinea.
In this workshop Vicki uses 10 metres of rope and a coat hanger. The coat hanger can be replaced with a piece of wooden dowel or a stick.
The advantage to the coat hanger is that the weaving won’t move and ‘fall off’ the stick, while you are weaving.
Vicki likes to use rope that she purchases from Smart Price store in Hoppers Crossing Shopping Centre.
Or, alternatively Bunnings will stock a similar rope, or you can try another discount store in the area.
