Great art. Outdoors.
RED CENTRE returns to Werribee this summer with an outdoor gallery of new, contemporary public art from leading local and Melbourne artists.
The works have been curated and commissioned from Victorian and locally based artists and in a playful nod to the festive season, each artist has been challenged to reference the colour red.
Located in the west end of Watton Street, the free outdoor exhibition will feature six, temporary works encompassing photography, street art, illustration and light-based installations.
RED CENTRE will feature a new, large-format photographic work from rising star, Atong Atem who has exhibited her work across Australia and internationally and will also feature in the NGV Triennial later this year.
Local artist Ceardai Demelza, will create a new work with her signature layered, character and textural scenes.
Internationally renowned street artist Ash Keating will create a new, temporary work at the front of Wyndham Cultural Centre, complemented by one of Indigo O’Rourke’s hyper-realistic hand drawings on the carpark wall.
Carla Gottgens and local artist Rukz One aka Paul Zahra will bring our pandemic secrets and isolation habits to life with a new collaboration and Wedge St Piazza will be festively lit with street artist Buff Diss and local illustrator Jessica Jane each be adding their distinctive touch to the space.
RED CENTRE will be on show from 27 November – 18 January 2021.
