We call this technique 54321.

Wherever you are standing or sitting look around to find

  • 5 things you can see
  • 4 things you can feel
  • 3 things you can hear
  • 2 things you can smell right now
  • 1 thing you can taste

Doing this exercise helps to ground us and deescalate the power of an unpleasant emotional experience.
